The brief

A large, mostly lawned garden with plenty of space but nowhere that felt like a destination — nowhere that pulled people outside once the sun went down.

Our approach

A circular terrace was cut into a gentle slope and sunk slightly below the surrounding lawn, built in natural stone with continuous bench seating wrapped around a central firepit. A new stone path ties the terrace back to the house, so it reads as part of the garden rather than a separate addition.

The result

A space that gets used well beyond midsummer — the firepit means the garden now works on cooler evenings too, not just warm afternoons.
